Diosmetin is found in citrus. Diosmetin is isolated from peel of lemon (Citrus limon) and others Diosmetin belongs to the family of Flavonols. These are compounds that has the 3-hydroxyflavone backbone.
Diosmetin is an O-methylated flavone and the aglycone part of the flavonoid glycosides diosmin that occurs naturally in citrus fruits. Pharmacologically, diosmetin is reported to exhibit anticancer, antimicrobial, antioxidant, oestrogenic and anti-inflamatory activities. It also acts as a weak TrkB receptor agonist.
Applications:
1.Diosmetin is good at antioxidant and antitumor activity;
2. Antimicrobial, antiviral activity against a variety of viruses, including herpes simplex virus (HSV) and HIV-1;
3. Mild sedatives, anxiety reduction and hypnotics;
4. Modulate for mood and cognitive enhancement, mild sedative and sleep aid;
5. Memory-enhancing properties;
6. Widely use as a mild sedative and antibacterial agent.
